Cranbrook is a very well known market town of Kent. Being in the middle of London and the rest of the continent, Kent, the English county always remained in the limelight. With a population just over 7000 Cranbrook happens to be the smallest town in Kent. The literal meaning of Cranbrook is "marshy place where cranes visit often". The name itself has gone through a progressive evolution.

Visitors who want to arrive in Cranbrook via air travel should book their flights to Gatwick or Heathrow Airport as it happens to be the most convenient choices they have. Those who want to take a train to Cranbrook should know that Eurostar trains stop at about nine miles from Cranbrook.

There are all sorts of mills in this town ranging from watermills to windmills and some of them date back to 18th century. You can have detailed information about these mills from the local map which also indicates their brief history. Union Mill is the most well known mill in the town and it was built in the early 19th century. In its early days the mill had to face some financial difficulties and later it was owned by the Russell family. Union Mill was later bought by the Kent local government body which invested heavily to restore the original form of this historical mill. Today visitors do pay homage to this incredibly sturdy windmill in Cranbrook.

Cranbrook offers a high class experience of theatre work and the most well known organizing body is Cranbrook Opera and Dramatic Society.
