The city of Weston-super-Mare dates back to the Iron Age. By the early 19th century it had become a beneficiary of the proximity to Bristol, Bath and South Wales. The first of the hotels began in 1808 growing rapidly thanks to the Victorian era boom in seaside holidays.

Opened in 1960 the theater has been used by many famous celebrities. Seating nearly 700 people the Playhouse is a great place to enjoy a night of culture.
Along the seaside is the Winter Gardens. Opened with a grand ceremony in 1927 the garden has classical architecture but has been recently updated to extend the coast line. There is an impressive ballroom and entertainment facility for visitors to use and enjoy.
Weston-super-Mare is home to the Helicopter Museum. With 80 different helicopters from all over the world the Helicopter Museum is considered one of the largest of its kind. Opened in 1958 the museum has just become more popular over the years. All of the features of a aviation memorabilia the museum also has souvenirs, a play area and cafe.
