This small market town of Sudbury was originally founded in 799. It was awarded the status of a market town in 1099. It became known for its weaving and silk industries during the late Middle Ages. While Sudbury is still mainly a market town, there are still a great many things to see and do while visiting this quaint town.

Since Sudbury is centered around the market it is probably best known for being a shoppers haven. There are many attractive shops to visit and unique boutiques to patron. While you're here you will notice that one of the great things about Sudbury is its unspoiled feeling. This makes for a pleasant shopping experience. You don't have to worry about paying for additional parking as all the parking is free, there is plenty of it and traffic jams are just about unheard of. There is also a popular market open on Thursdays and Saturdays which will allow you to enjoy Sudbury's local flare.

While you are wandering the streets roaming in and out of shops and stores, you can also find many places to eat. There are a wide array of restaurants, pubs and snack bars for you to enjoy and sample while you work your way around the town, on your shopping tour of Sudbury.

Among Subdury's many ancient landmarks, there is the church of St Peters. The church is located close to the market place area and many don't stop here for its beauty or architecture, they stop here to take a peek at a trough. As strange as it sounds, fans of the literary classic 101 Dalmatians, which has been made even more popular by the Disney movies of the same name, often stop to look at the drinking trough located next to St. Peters. Here is where the 101 Dalmatians stopped to take a drink of water as they crossed into Suffolk trying to escape from the evil Cruella Devil. It's just a story but this makes the trough of St Peters a popular stop for literary fans.

One of the best things about Sudbury is its scenery. The town is in the loop f the River Stour and it makes for breathtaking views. A walk in the country side might be just what you need to relax and refresh yourself, especially if you have spent the day wandering the town shopping.

Sudbury may be small but its offerings are great.
