Newry happens to be the fourth largest city in Northern Ireland. The town is fortunate enough that the River Clanrye runs through the city. Newry became part of the County Down in the late 19th century. The neighbouring cities include Belfast and Dublin and the local people often travel to these cities. Newry is densely populated and the recent census showed its population close to thirty thousand. The town of Newry itself was established in the mid twelfth century and for this reason is included in the oldest towns.

Saint Patrick's Church was built in the early nineteenth century. The entire structure is made with sturdy local materials and modern architects still praise the fundamental aspects of the building.

The museum holds some of the really fine objects of historical importance. The local administration has taken some very genuine steps to preserve the history in this museum. The recent developments in the museum include addition of a new audio and visual section which transforms all the local historical events into colorful and animated presentations. Children are especially attracted towards this section and special exhibits are arranged to inform school children about the local enriched history.

The town hall is constructed above the River Clanrye and is a spectacular sight to view. The local tourist book includes all the interesting attractions of the town and many local guides are available for complete guidance.
