The town of Wells-next-the-Sea, better known as simply Wells, is located about a mile inland from the North Sea. This area along the northern coast of Norfolk was once known for the number of wells found in the area. This town also home to a popular seaport. This lively town has many things for visitors to do and enjoy.
Families will find lots to do in this beautiful little town. One place for families to spend the day is Abrahams Bosom. You can head out on the water in any number of boats. They have canoes that seat anywhere from one to four people. Or you can head out on the lake in a row boat. Once you're done paddling the waters head over to one of the large professional trampolines, each of the eight has a coach to assist you while you bounce. You can then head over to the pool room and have a family tournament on one of the three tables. Break for a picnic in one of their free picnic areas before heading off to the crazy and target golf.
If you are interested in heading out into Wells Harbor then you can do it on the oldest sailing ship out there. Built in 1899 the North Sea Klipper is moored in the Wells Harbor. Now known as the Albatros, this ancient ship can be chartered for trips out into the Harbor.
For those who are interested in seeing some of the nature of Wells, head out to Blakeney Point. This National Nature Reserve is a great place to see native birds and other wild life. During a boat trip you might even get to see some common grey seals. If you go during the summer months, mainly July and August, you might even get to see a few seal pups as well.
The Eceni Study Center is an interesting attraction. Here you can explore an authentic Iron Age Celtic Village. This used to be the home of the Eceni Tribe. Visitors can move through the homes of the native tribe, view their artifacts, and see what life might have been like for Queen Boudicca and her people. It's an interesting stop during your stay in Wells.
One of the great things about the town of Wells is there is no shortage of places to eat. Whether you are looking for a simple meal there are several pubs or delis to choose from. There are also several good coffee shops to visit for an afternoon snack or tea. If you are interested in something that is a little more gourmet, there are also few of them available to patron.
For the shopper there is also a plethora of shopping opportunities. From the local shops that sell unique souvenirs to department stores, you can enjoy spending the day shopping. Not only can you find clothes and souvenirs but you can also find interesting furniture and art. If you plan on fixing your own meals during your stay you can find plenty of fresh fish markets to find some tasty treats.
