Wallingford, the English town had its attachment with the County Berkshire up until 1974. It was assigned to the County of Oxfordshire and from then onwards the town has seen some phenomenal development in every field. The town is just 15 miles from Oxford and has the advantage of being close to the famous river Thames.

Wallingford Castle that can only be witnessed through its remains was built in the mid 11th century. The castle was destroyed in the 17th century by Oliver Cromwell, the all time famous British dictator who was buried in Westminster Abbey, but his corpse was later dug up and was beheaded for his dictatorial crimes. The associated gardens are still in place and are continuously maintained to facilitate the visitors.

In the middle of the town lies a market which is the centre of all the commercial activities of Wallingford. Weekly markets are arranged by the local government to facilitate the local and incoming visitors in their daily routines. Finding a parking space is made easy with the introduction of new systematic mechanism and now people don't have to worry about the irrelevant tiresome of parking their vehicles.

The ancient church of Saint Mary-le-More is an excellent piece of structure. Although there are a couple more historical churches in the town, this church attracts hundreds of tourists every year. For this reason local people have volunteered their services to act as part time guides and their elaborate explanation of each and every part of the church does shed light on the overall churches of this area.
