The market town of Sherborne is located on the Yeo River in the county of Dorset England. The town was settled back in the Saxon times. Back then it was called Scir Burne which meant clear stream. The town quickly grew to become the capital city of one of the seven Saxon kingdoms, Wessex. In 705 King Ine founded the Abbey for St Aldhelm which served as the bishop's seat until 1075. The town continued its royal ties until well into recent history.
