The Lochs of Scotland are among the most beautiful bodies of water on the entire planet. Many of them span countless kilometers and are rightfully maintained to ensure that they will always be as scenic and gorgeous as they have ever been. Choosing the most beautiful Loch in Scotland is like picking out a proper kilt-and-bagpipe combination; you can't go wrong. A good place to start, though, is the famed Loch Lomond. Not only does Loch Lomond boast some of the most pristine scenery in Scotland, it also has size on its side. Loch Lomond is by far the largest lake in all of England when one discounts bodies of water that aren't in the mainland. Loch Ness has more water than Loch Lomond but Loch Lomond definitely wins the title in size with its seventy one square kilometers of surface area. What's more, the Loch has over sixty islands that can be found within the sizable waters and one of them, Inchmurrin, is the largest freshwater island in the British Isles.

Loch Lomond also is its own national park which further speaks to the beauty of the area. As if to cement this legacy in stone, the lake recently placed sixth on a national poll detailing the greatest natural wonders in the United Kingdom. There is more in Loch Lomond than simply natural wonder, however; the town that surrounds the lake is home to many exciting and fun activities that help to boost tourism even further. Loch Lomond is considered to be Scotland's premier site for boating and yachts as well as any other kind of sailing or floating vessel imaginable. Naturally there are patrols that operate twenty four hours a day to ensure that nobody gets hurt or killed amid the pristine backdrop. Loch Lomond also has plenty of upscale shops, cafes, and hotels as well as more affordable ones to ensure that everybody has a good time without breaking the bank.

The famed Loch Lomond Golf Club is another very popular tourist attraction and it has been the site of countless important tournaments including the beloved Scottish Open. There is something to be said for nailing a drive and watching a little white ball disappear in the air amid the stunning islands poking out of the lake. Near the golf course is the similarly popular West Loch Lomond Cycle Path. This path spans twenty seven kilometers and offers a fantastic experience for cyclists hoping to have a little bit of eye candy as they push through old records and set new ones. Throughout all of this, though, Loch Lomond has not sacrificed what it holds most dear: The Loch. No matter what gets added to the already sizable amount of diversions for tourists we can rest confident in the fact that Loch Lomond will always have natural beauty at the top of its list.
