This is an ancient fishing village where many cottages date from the 17th Century. A tangled maze of houses, shops, inns and flower-decked cottages cluster on the cliff side and down to the sea. Twisting cobbled passageways and alleys offer visions of press gangs, contraband and smugglers long since gone but provide the artist a paradise today. The Village is near the North end of a sweeping bay extending to the spectacular cliffs of Ravenscar, the site of a Roman Signal Station. Inland lies the North Yorkshire Moors and countryside with its many beautiful villages and historic sites to explore. The whole area is protectively contained in a National Park and is ideal for walking or touring by car. Garden with Summerhouse The White Owl is a large interesting detached house conveniently situated for all the village amenities. Accommodation is in self-contained quality apartments with character. There is an ornamental garden with water feature, picnic tables and a small Summer House overlooking the bay. Parking is available at the rear of the house for your convenience. The apartments are normally let on a self catering basis (weekly & daily rates) but bed & breakfast is also available. Weekly rates Self Catering £245 - £300 Daily rate £28.50 pppn with reduction for 3 or more days Bed and Breakfast £35 pppn SEAFARER'S APARTMENT Situated on the ground floor of the house is ideal for two people. It comprises of an attractive, centrally heated living area with a double bed set in alcove and screened with canopied drapes: Satellite TV, DVD: Free Wi-Fi. Kitchenette with four ring ceramic hob, combi-microwave, fridge, stainless steel sink unit etc: Entrance vestibule/dressing room with wardrobe and dressing table: Shower room with wash basin and toilet. The apartment is completely self-contained and overlooks a small, private pot garden. Seafarer's Apartment - Bedroom Seafarer's Apartment - Table GARDEN ROOM In addition to our self-catering apartment, we also have a further small unit without full cooking facilities. It is completely self-contained with double bed comfortable easy chairs, satellite TV. Free Wi-Fi. There is a small fridge, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, crockery etc, enabling you to make light breakfasts and snacks: Full private ensuite facilities - shower, wash basin and toilet. This unit is situated at the front of the house with views over our ornamental garden and down to the sea. The garden is available for use of all our visitors - it has picnic tables and a small summerhouse, with views of the sea. There is a free car parking space for each unit at the rear of the house.
