White Rose Hotel Bed & Breakfast - Askrigg in Wensleydale

The White Rose Hotel and Restaurant in the north Yorkshire Dales, formerly a 19th century residence, has been carefully and sympathetically refurbished to create a family-run hotel in the heart of Askrigg in Wensleydale, the location for many of BBC Televisions James Herriots All Creatures Great and Small series. Here we provide excellent bed and breakfast holiday accommodation, plus a la carte restaurant meals and bar meals. We also provide for Functions, Wedding Receptions and Private Parties.

Askrigg is a popular starting point for walkers. There are many circular walks, some taking in Mill Gill and Whitfield Force, the local waterfalls. It is also a convenient touring base for the Yorkshire Dales and the southern part of the Lake District.

Meals

Dinner is served in out candlelit and intimate restaurant or conservatory. We offer an a la carte menu all cooked to a high standard, using fresh local produce. To ensure a standard associated with a good hotel, a professional chef cooks all of our food.

A comprehensive and realistic priced wine list and a fine selection of real ales are also available.

The Yorkshire Dales

The White Rose Hotel is a perfect starting point for your break in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. From Askrigg you can travel either up or down Wensleydale, both directions offering a wide variation of sights and attractions.

Head up the Dale and you will soon reach the small market town of Hawes, a tourist hot spot. Hawes is famously known for its biggest export, Wensleydale Cheese! The Wensleydale Creamery has a visitors centre and restaurant. Guided tours are available to watch the cheese being made!

Also in Hawes are The Ropemakers. The Ropemakers attracts thousands of visitors every year, who come to watch traditional rope making in progress. Again, they have a fascinating visitors centre and shop.
