Our home and your home...

The Meadow House is a magnificent modern house, set in 2 acres of wooded grounds. We offer superior Bed and Breakfast accommodation in spacious rooms, some of which have king size double beds.

Park your car, on arrival, in our large car park which is located at the side of the house. The entrance to the house is at the rear of the property via the first patio door.

The variety of accommodation endeavours to cater for all requirements, e.g.

A suite of rooms which can accommodate up to 6 people. It comes complete with a covered south facing balcony and an en-suite bathroom ideal for a family!

The Green Room, which is located on the ground floor, is ideally suited to those who would rather not climb the stairs. It has three single beds and it's own en-suite bathroom.

The "Coach House" is a spacious annex to the main house. It has one double and one single bed to accommodate up to three people. It also has an en-suite bathroom.

All of the rooms have televisions, central heating and tea and coffee making facilities.

This is a NON SMOKING establishment.

We also have three excellent self catering apartments in the village available for guests use.

Hilary's Cottage

Hilary's Cottage is a delightful detached Victorian cottage situated in the historic Cambridgeshire village of Swaffham Prior.

Sleeping up to 6 the cottage has 3 bedrooms. 2 doubles and 1 twin. One double is situated on the ground floor. There are two bathrooms, one large en-suite and one downstairs, kitchen, living room and secluded rear garden.

There is a large off road parking space and parking for two cars outside the cottage.

The cottage has oil fired central heating and all bed linen and towels are provided.

The cottage is situated close to Newmarket Racecourse, Cambridge, Ely and The Fens.

There is a variety of good pubs locally and many places of interest to visit, including the University City of Cambridge, Ely Cathedral, Duxford Air Museum, Anglesey Abbey and Wicken Fen (National Trust) and The National Stud and Horse Racing Museum at nearby Newmarket.


Burwell - in and around

Burwell, one of the largest villages in Cambridgeshire, is just 12 miles from Cambridge and is ideal for walking and fishing. It has over sixty listed buildings and the 15th century church of St. Mary's must be seen to be appreciated. Birdwatchers and nature lovers can enjoy the tranquility of nearby Wicken Fen.

Places to visit - not too far
The variety of places to visit are too numerous to include on this page. A few are listed here, and more can be found by visiting a tourist information centre.

Newmarket
The home of the National Horse Racing Museum and the famous Newmarket Racecourse.

Cambridge
A visit to Kings College holds the chance of hearing a world renown choir. Or perhaps just relax in a punt as you drift down the Cam and watch the world go by.

Ely
One of England's most beautiful cities, lying just a few miles north or Burwell. It's cathedral has dominated the Fenland skyline for 1000 years.

National Trust
The National Trust has several properties in the area. These include Anglesey Abbey and Gardens, Wicken Fen, Wimpole Hall and Home Farm.

Just Passing Through
Then we may well be on your route to the East coast port of Harwich or the Centre Parcs complex here in East Anglia

How to find us...

1. From CAMBRIDGE
Leave Cambridge on the Newmarket Road to the Stow-Cum-Quy roundabout and proceed along the B1102. After going through the village of Stow-Cum-Quy, pass the road to Lode on your left and continue straight on through the Swaffhams to Burwell. On entering the village continue straight on for ½ mile.

The Meadow House, which has mature trees and a post and rail paddock fence along the front, can be found on the right hand side, opposite a thatched barn and red telephone box.

2. From the A14 at EXNING
If you turn off the A14 at Exning, go straight through the village and follow signs for Burwell (drive carefully as the road twists and turns). Take the first left, Isaacson Road, just after the Burwell sign. At the bottom of the road go straight on, keeping the green triangle on your right.

The Meadow house can be found on the left, opposite a thatched barn and red telephone box.

3. From the ROWLEY MILE RACECOURSE
As you leave the racecourse site, turn left down Hamilton Road. At the bottom of Hamilton Road turn right into Edinburgh Road and continue until you reach the village of Exning. Go straight through Exning and follow the signs for Burwell (drive carefully as the road twists and turns). Take the first left, Isaacson Road, just after the Burwell sign. At the bottom of the road go straight on, keeping the green triangle on your right.

The Meadow House can be found on the left, opposite a thatched barn and red telephone box.

4. From the JULY RACECOURSE
As you leave the racecourse, turn left towards Newmarket. Take the first left as you approach the town into Hamilton Road and then follow the direction given in 3 above.
