High Mead

Situated just 5 miles from the historic county town of Dorchester in the village of Crossways, High Mead is ideally situated for your needs - whether a short break in the heart of the stunning countryside that Dorset is famous for, or an overnight stay to visit one of the many local attractions, such as the world-famous Monkey World, or the fantastic Tank Museum at Bovington. Our central but peaceful location makes us the perfect place to base yourself to explore all that Dorset has to offer or to attend local events.

Despite our beautiful rural location, High Mead is easy accessable by both road and rail (we are walking distance from Moreton Station). We are within easy reach of Dorchester, Weymouth, Wareham, Swanage and Lyme Regis, as well as many beautiful Dorset villages including Puddletown and Milton Abbas. Local attractions include National Trust properties such as Clouds Hill (Lawrence of Arabia & apos;s cottage), Max Gate and Thomas Hardy & apos;s Cottage, Lulworth Castle, Abbotsbury Swannery and Sub-Topical Gardens and Corfe Castle.

Dorset has one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world and we are minutes from the Unesco World Heritage Jurassic Coast, which includes Chesil Beach, the Isle of Purbeck and Portland, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The family-friendly beaches at Weymouth, Studland and Bournemouth are also within easy reach.

High Mead is run by Julia Quiatkowski, who has been warmly welcoming guests for many years and who would be pleased to provide any information you may need on our facilities or the local area. Our rooms are spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We can accommodate families in our large family room, singles are available and children are welcomed.

Ensuite rooms are available and all rooms have tea and coffee facilities, hairdryers and are non-smoking. Ironing facilities are available and you are more than welcome to relax in our beautiful lounge (with open fire in the winter months) and landscaped gardens.

We have plenty of off-road parking and we pride ourselves on one of the best breakfasts available in Dorset - from fresh fruit, cereal, toast and preserves to a full English breakfast, you will certainly feel ready for the day! We use quality ingredients - local or home-made where possible, and dietary requirements can be catered for on request. Regrettably, we are unable to accommodate pets. Check-in time is between 5pm and 7pm, and rooms should be vacated by 10am, although these times are flexible - please contact Julia for more details.

We are also within easy reach of many lovely village pubs, one of which is walking distance, and many of which serve fantastic food, as well as golf courses, watersports and horse riding. We are one mile from swimming facilities and a dry ski-slope.
