West Sussex is located in south England next to East Sussex. It is a distinct county that has many grand homes and castles including Arundel and Bramber Castles. The town is surround by countryside that is a popular hiking, walking and biking area.

West Sussex's settlements are mostly located on the coast to the south or by the corridor of M23. It is one of the largest settlements, along with Worthing, that the county has. There is a population of roughly 100,000 people per town.

Several major roads run by the east side of the county and run from Waterloo into London then way up to Brighton and Worthing. There is another large road that goes east and west through the middle of West Sussex plus one that goes the same direction except along the coast. Also along the coast is an alternative route when needed.

Gatwick Airport, the 2nd largest airport in UK, sees an average of 32 million travelers through its doors each year and is just to the north of the town. In Shoreham there is also a much smaller airport mostly used for local travel. There are also three major railways, West Coastway Line, the Brighton Main Line and the Arun Valley Line.

The County Hall Chichester is where the West Sussex County Council is located. The Council provides the area with a large range of services. They provide the county with educational, social, fire and rescue services. They also finance the library, trash disposal, planning and services for consumers. There are also a total of 7 local districts that govern with in the West Sussex county.

Chitchester is also where the Pallant House Gallery is housed. The gallery has one of the largest collections of British art from the 20th Century in the UK except for London. This collection includes work from the early and mid part of the century that was willed to the museum from Walter Hussey who, from 1955 to 1977, was the Dean of Chitchester Cathedral and then art from later in the century that was donated by Sir Colin St John Wilson.
