The former Scottish burgh Biggar always remained an important historic town due to its proximity with two rivers namely, Clyde and Tweed, the former flowing to the west of the town and the latter to the east. Biggar is located in the South Lanarkshire which is one of the 32 Scottish unitary council areas.

The town has quite a few decent museums; most notable of them are Biggar Gasworks Museum (very rare preserved gas work in the Scottish areas), Gladstone Court Museum and Greenhill Covenanters Museum. These museums are not only well managed but do attract lots of attention from the visitors.

One of the distinguishing features of Biggar is the presence of Biggar Puppet Theatre. This theatre is the only permanent Scottish theatre and for this reason talented puppeteers eagerly visit the town. The Victorian puppet theatre is a must visit place of the town as superb quality puppet shows can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Biggar Little Festival is the annual festival that is held in the town and gathers numerous art lovers from neighbouring towns. With these activities Biggar is known as a cradle of art in Scotland which is by no means an overstatement.

Tinto Hill is just six miles from the town which provides an amazing opportunity for the visitors. The view from above is spectacular because Clyde Valley offers some of the dazzling sides of the nature. Special arrangements are made for the children and senior citizens to provide a safe experience for the incoming visitors and families.
