Credited with being the home of the world's first railway service, Swansea has many things to intrigue visitors to this seaside city. Dating all the way back to 2,000 BC this ancient town was also one of the centers of the copper industry in the nineteenth century. Thanks to its seaside location and rich history Swansea has many sites and attractions for visitors to enjoy.

Being a seaside city there is the beach to enjoy. Most of the visitors that use Swansea Bay use it for water sports other than simple swimming. The beaches at near buy Langland, Caswell and Limeslade are generally used for that recreation. Getting to one of these other beaches for swimming and sunbathing purposes is easy, simply follow the coastal paths that connects many of the Gower bays and the Swansea Bay together.

The coastal paths that connect the various bays is not just used by those who are searching for good surf and sun, they are also a favorite of hikers. Throughout the year hikers travel these paths to see the various countryside views and mountain landscapes.

Those interested in the views should visit nearby Mumbles, located on the western edge of Swansea bay. Here there is a Victorian pier, coffee ships, pubs and several restaurants. The promenade area of Mumbles gives visitors an extravagant panoramic view of the Swansea Bay.

Those interested in the history of the area should make time to visit the Three Cliffs Bay. This triple toothed limestone foundation is home to the remains of an Iron Age settlement and is the site of a medieval fable about a village buried beneath the sand. There might be some credence to that tale since the buried stone ruins of a church has been found in the area. The expansive sands and winding water channel is a spectacular site to behold.

Mumbles light house, located on Mumbles Head, was built in 1794. The light house is accessible on foot at low tide, but if you venture out there make sure you have time to leave the area well before high tide as you can be trapped out there until low tide. The light house is still in operation.

There are also lots of activities to choose from during your stay. You can play tennis, squash, volley ball, roller blade, skate board, laser shoot, go cycling, horseback riding, bowling, golf, rock climb and many other things. All of these activities are available along with the water activities such as yachting, fishing, water skiing, surfing, canoeing, and much more. It is easy for you and your family to find something to do during your stay in Swansea.
