Ludlow Shropshire is considered one of the "jewels of the Wels Marches" and it's easy to see why. With its castle perched above the River Teme Ludlow is a picturesque stop on anyone's tour of England. Ludlow is not just a beautiful town it is also full of architecture and shops for you to enjoy.

What would be a trip to Ludlow without a stop at the Ludlow Castle? Built in 1085 the Castle occupies the oldest parts of Ludlow. On a cliff overlooking the River Teme the castle is in the center of the shopping area. Ludlow Castle features architecture from the Norman, Medieval, and Tudor periods. The town flourished after the building of this magnificent work of art.

Once you are finished check out the castle be sure to check out the local parish church. St Laurence's Parish Church is among the largest in the country. Even though the majority of the building was re-built in the 15th century you can still find wonderful stained glass windows and misericords that are worth viewing. The church is open all year and you can find Stewards on duty all year except the winter. For those interested in a tour should simply contact the Rector to arrange one prior to arrival. St Laurence is home also to the tower of St Laurence which contains "one of the finest rings of eight bells in the country." It really is something that should be enjoyed.

If you are looking for a place to stay while in Ludlow, check out the Feathers Hotel. The older parts of the hotel date back to 1619. The wood facade is one of its most prominent features. Once known only as an inn the Feathers became considered a hotel in 1863 and has expanded since. The Feathers is undergoing further refurbishment and expansion.

Ludlow is not just about the architecture, you can also find many different types of eateries. With everything from fast food to finer dining there is something for every taste. You can even find farm shops and wine merchants and enjoy some of the local produce during your stay.

And while in Ludlow you might as well enjoy the some 500 shops. With the shopping district at the base of Ludlow Castle not only can you find some unique local shops mixed in with bigger names, but you can do it with a beautiful view.

Ludlow is home to many interesting things for visitors to enjoy.
