While many think of the Isle of Arran to be one of the best things about Scotland others consider it to be 'Scotland in Miniature'. If you are interested in beer then don't fear you will not be missing anything here. The Island is home to not only its own brewery but to its own distillery as well. You can get enjoy the local flavors during your stay here.

Drink cannot hold you alone, to complement the home style brewing the island has there are also a variety of food options to tempt your pallet. With its wonderful local produce such as Scottish beef and lamb it's no wonder that the island itself has become a haven for foodies. Many of the recipes used in the local restaurants were created here on the island and handed down from generation to generation.

Once you've gotten your fill at the table it's time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery. And what better way to do that than by enjoying a nice walk or cycling. The Forest Enterprise is a great place to take a stroll and get in touch with nature. This wooded area is full of wildlife to see. If you are planning to take a trek into this area it might behoove you to check with the Forest Enterprise before heading out so that you can get the most up to date forest and weather conditions before you wander off.

Not much for the woods then there is plenty of costal area and country side for you to enjoy. There are also mountains to climb and other trails to walk, don't hesitate when it comes time to check some of them out.

Speaking of coastal, it is an island and what good would going to an island be if you couldn't enjoy some of the water. Along the coast you can build sandcastles, play in the water or enjoy a wide variety of water sports. For many it's not about being in the water as it is looking at it. The views are the type that belongs on a post card. And if you keep your eyes open you might get to see some interesting wildlife too.

Since this is Scotland, it wouldn't be a visit without playing some golf. The Isle of Arran is home to the Shiskine Golf Club. While it only has twelve holes versus the standard eighteen this course offers everything a golf enthusiast could hope for. There are plenty of challenges that are all natural, no man made issues here. This gem of gems is the place to play if you love a good game of golf.
