Located just 36 miles south of London in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, is the town of Haywards Heath. First mentioned in English Civil War records dating December 1642 Haywards Heath is considered a relatively recent settlement when compared to those around it. Today there are many things for visitors and residents alike to enjoy.

Sports fans can find plenty to see and do in this little town. There are several football and cricket pitches available for use around the town. Visitors can take in some club games if they can find them or if they want to enjoy playing the games themselves, there is lots of opportunity. Tennis players will also find no shortages of courts to play on.

Golfers aren't left out when it comes to copious opportunities. Not only are there several challenging courses around town but if you want to play by the ocean that's an option too. Brighten beach is only fifteen miles south of Haywards Heath and is just a quick drive for a game with some spectacular views.

Thanks to its picturesque location, those who want to enjoy the scenery can. On foot or bike the hilly terrain will offer you a nice little exercise and the beautiful surroundings will give you lot to look at and enjoy while you stroll the country side.

If beauty and ambience is what you are looking for be sure to head the Nymans Garden. This spectacular garden has an array of plants that give the garden its year round beauty. The gardens surround the Nyman mansion, a gothic home that was built in the 1920's but burnt down shortly after. The ruins make for a romantic backdrop.

Wanting to enjoy more of the beautiful nature that is Haywards Heath? The Ardingly Reservoir is open to the public during daylight hours. There are extensive nature trails that skirt the reservoir allowing you to see all the beauty of the water and even some to the bird population that lives here. During the sunny summer days you can sail, canoe and windsurf here.

One of the most historic houses in Haywards Heath is Wing's Place. Better known as Anne of Cleves House this is the home given to Anne by Henry VIII when he divorced her in favor of wife number five. This home is the one she lived in for years following that dissolution of marriage.
