The market town of Crieff is located in the county of Perth and Kinross in Scotland. The town was once known for mainly trading in whiskey and cattle driving. Today the main industry is it's tourism with several things for visitors to enjoy.

A popular stop is the Glenturret distillery. This distillery is located on the banks of the River Turret. It is hidden in the valley and is built on the site of several illicit stills. It was built in the mid 1700's. When it was first opened the distillery originally was known as Hosh and it claims it is the oldest distillery in Scotland. Today visitors can enjoy visiting the distillery and seeing the basics of how the whiskey is made.

Most people wouldn't think that a library would be a tourist stop but the Innerpeffray Library is one. This library is the oldest lending library in Scotland. You can go and see the 18th Century home of this library. It is a sight to see, as a historical site so that you can say that you have seen the first lending library in Scotland, and it is still in existence.

Built in 1508 is the chapel of St Mary's. This chapel has been fully restored and is preserved by Historic Scotland. This chapel was the first home to the Innerpeffray Library. You can enter the chapel for free and tour around while see the beauty that is St. Mary's Chapel.

Probably one of the biggest tourist attractions in the town is the annual cattle sale. Since this was one of the way that the town made its money in the past, it still draws large crowds. It is an interesting thing to check out during your visit.

If you are interested in learning about the town then why not take one of the tours around the town. You can travel the town on foot and see many of the sites that will give you an interesting insight into the town and its history.

A very popular stop and the tourist center is the Caithness Glass Center. Here you can see glass being crafted by hand in the close-up studio. You can then make your own paperweight. By participating in this neat activity you can see what it takes to be a glass maker. If you don't want to go all out on glass maker then you can try your hand at glass painting. Either way you can make a personalized souvenir.
