On the northwestern coast of the Scottish Highland is the village of Kyle of Lochalsh. The village gets its name from being located right at the entrance of Loch Alsh. The village is known for being the shopping center for the area as well as the transport. Kyle of Lochalsh is the highest point one can travel to from London and often see many visitors from there. Of course the big economic factor of this village is the harbor and marina.

If you are heading to Kyle of Lochalsh the first thing you will probably notice is the beautiful scenery. It's no doubt that the loch itself makes for post card perfect views but there are other areas as well. You can find lots of wildlife that is considered a main attraction for many. Since the village takes life at a slower pace than the big cities do there are more interesting creatures that call the area home. You never know what you might find during your visit here.

Of course, the slow pace of life is also a big draw for the village. People come here to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Slowing things down a touch helps most visitors kick back and enjoy their vacations. You can take your time perusing the shops for that perfectly unique souvenir to take home with you. The whole idea is to take your time and enjoy yourself.

While you are here you will want to make sure to enjoy the marina. There are many pontoons for you to charter, go out and take a tour of the loch, or maybe even catch yourself some dinner. You might just want to get out in the water and look for more of that native wildlife. The choice is yours, just be sure to take advantage of it while you're there.

If you are up for a little adventure then head about seven miles outside of town. Her you will find the Eilean Donan Castle. This castle, located on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands has been a fortified site for the last 800 years. The majority of the castle was destroyed, but was rebuilt during the early part of the 20th century. The shell was just about all that remained of this ancient structure. Originally the stronghold for the Clan Macrae for 500 years visitors can now tour its halls. You will find many exhibits and information that will give you an idea of what life was like during that time period. The guides are sure to give you as much information they can, down to the smallest detail.
