| Wotton-under-Edge is a market town nestling at the foot of the Cotswold escarpment, equidistant from the towns of Bristol, Gloucester, Bath and Cardiff. There are all the normal facilities found in any other town but the feel of Wotton is unique. People come here to visit and often stay, or, failing that always return. |

Wooton Guest House is a 17th century town house, built in Cotswold stone and is situated in the very epicentre of the town itself. The house is surrounded by a magnificent walled garden. In the spring the garden abounds with the nodding yellow heads of daffodils, whilst in the summer roses bloom on the walls of the house itself.
The Breakfast room lies to the front of the property. Umbrellas and tables are dotted around the garden and these can be used well into the evening sun, for residents wishing to partake of a takeaway meal or a quiet glass of wine (or two). |
All of the bedrooms are very different, but all offer quiet, well furnished rooms, all with en suite facilities, tea and coffee, central heating and TV downstairs there is a well appointed residents lounge where smoking is permitted and residents are welcome to use this day or night.
Breakfast is served from 7.00 - 8.30 weekdays and on Sunday from 8-9.30. A full English breakfast together with cereals, fruit, tea and coffee, toast and a friendly smile is usually on offer! |

| The bedrooms are situated at the back of the property overlooking the garden, most with a lovely view looking up towards the Cotswold hills. |

| There are many places to eat in and around Wotton-under-Edge, including the coffee shop during the day. The Falcon Inn does a very comprehensive menu, either a bar snack or a full restaurant meal. The Royal Oak in Haw Street offers meals and has a large garden to the rear. There is an excellent Indian restaurant located at the bottom of the town. To complete the eateries, two takeaway restaurants, one an excellent Chinese, are also at the bottom of the town. All the above are situated two minutes from the guest house front door. | |
At the rear of the house there is a large private car park.
In the Chipping car park we now have our own Heritage Centre and Musuem, where ladies are on hand to give information on all aspects, and to divulge local knowledge. |
Walkers and hikers are welcomed at Wotton Guest House. The world famous Cotswold way passes the front door. Many people use us as a base and walk in many directions, as we are situated in superb walking country. Should you wish to roam a little further a field there are numerous places to visit. (luggage transfer available for Cotswold way walkers.) Little villages, large towns, there is a lot to be seen. Listed below are a few of the places we recommend,
Within ten minutes by car:
Westonbirt Arboretum, a lovely place in the late spring, early summer, when the Azeleas, and Rhodedendrons are in full flower.
Woodchester Mansion, an unfinished Victorian house with guided walks around the grounds and in the woods. A restoration programme is in full flow.
North Nibley Monument, this you can walk to, a lovely stroll ending with a most spectacular view. It is said you can see five counties from here. The monument is dedicated to William Tyndale, the first man to translate the bible into English.
Newark Park. A Tudor hunting lodge built on the edge of a cliff by the Poyntz family, but then transformed into a country house in 1790.
A little further afield:
Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust. Set up originally by Sir Peter Scott and still being run by Lady Scott. Thousands of wild birds, swans, ducks and flamingos live here on the banks of the River Severn. The Trust have recently added a lookout tower and other facilities. A fun day out for all the family.
Berkeley Castle. This historic castle has connections with the Royal family as this was where two young princes were executed. There is also a butterfly house and deer park within the grounds.
Bristol and Gloucester. Both these cities have docklands which have been sympathetically restored to their former glory. Bristol docks houses two famous ships, The Matthew and The SS Great Britain.
Bath. Probably the most interesting Roman city to visit. Here you will find the famous Roman Baths and the Pump room, where you can have coffee whilst being serenaded by a string quartet. Here you will also find the famous Bath Abbey and Pultney Weir. Bath has a superb shopping centre.
