Balbirnie Park has beautiful walks and there is a stone circle about a mile from the house. Markinch is a large village and its church dates back to 13th century. The village boasts both an Indian and Chinese restaurant which are both reasonably priced or if you prefer more traditional cooking, The Laurel Bank Hotel provides bar meals as well as restaurant dining.
