. . . an eye for detail . . .

The Wentworth is different. Almost uniquely the hotel has been managed by a member of the same family, the Pritt family, since 1920 and so for more than 85 years there has been a continuous thread linking the past to the future.

We value tradition and the standards it sets us, but at the same time we are very aware that we have to meet the changing requirements of today's guests. In many ways, the Wentworth is everything a seaside hotel should be - a blend of the traditional and contemporary.

. . . perchance to dream . . .

The Wentworth has 35 bedrooms, many with views over the beach and the sea, and all with en suite bathroom, television, radio and telephone. The rooms vary in size and outlook and the tariff varies accordingly. Seven of the rooms are in Darfield House opposite the main hotel. These rooms are particularly spcacious and well appointed. For those guests who find stairs difficult there are five ground floor rooms. The hotel does not have a lift.

The bedrooms are regularly refurbished to a high standard and are bright, cheerful and welcoming. For your amusement each room has a copy of Catherine Hale’s “A Seaside Holiday” a story about Orlando the cat and his holiday in “Owlbarrow” (Aldeburgh)

Sea facing rooms have binoculars, useful for scanning the horizon or taking out with you for the day.

. . . the proof of the pudding . . .

Start your day, as you should while on holiday – with a hearty breakfast. Fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, cereals, porridge, locally smoked kipper or a ‘full house cooked breakfast’. The choice is yours.
At lunchtime our terrace bar menu has a wide choice depending on how hungry you are. From a fresh crab sandwich (in season) to traditional cod and chips.

In the evening the elegant candle lit restaurant offers daily changing menu with fresh local produce.

For parties and celebrations, there is a smaller dining room which can seat up to 22 persons. This room has French doors opening on to a delightful garden and is ideal for family parties or special occasions.

Outside
The Wentworth has two sea facing gardens in which you can sit and enjoy the sun and the seaview. Morning coffee, light lunches and cream teas are served in these gardens. Darfield House, which is opposite the main hotel, also has a delightful courtyard garden.

. . . about Aldeburgh . . .

Aldeburgh is a quiet, but flourishing town on the unspoilt Suffolk Coast. Internationally famous for its annual music festival founded by Benjamin Britten in 1948, it also has a strong maritime tradition dating back to 1300. There are still long shore fishermen who launch their boats from the shingle beach and sell their catches from the black-tarred huts.

Aldeburgh lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has a championship golf course, excellent sailing on the River Alde, many country and beach walks and a number of bird reserves close by - one of which is Minsmere (RSPB) where the Marsh Harrier and Bittern flourish, and another is Havergate Island, home of the Avocet.
