The Old Cowshed

Your hosts, Richard and Helen Combe, welcome you to their comfortable guesthouse in the heart of the peaceful and beautiful Herefordshire countryside. You will experience hospitality with old-fashioned charm and warmth - a place to relax and recharge your batteries. This is the 'county which time forgot' where you will be surrounded by fields, hills and woods, and wide, un-spoilt views of the English countryside. Enjoy walks from the door in these lovely surroundings, where sightings of badgers and many types of birds, including buzzards, are likely. Wake up to a full English breakfast, relax with a picnic in the pretty cottage garden, linger in one of the cosy local pubs, or enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal in our home.

Just outside the ancient town of Bromyard in Herefordshire you will find the charmingly situated Old Cowshed. The Guesthouse, which is part Victorian cowshed, and part ancient barn, has been painstakingly restored and converted over a number of years to provide a gracious and comfortable 'home from home' for our guests. It is ideal for short breaks or an overnight stop. It sleeps up to 6 guests in spacious king-size or twin bedded private suites, furnished with traditional country furniture. A ground-floor suite is available, sleeping up to 4 adults or family. Meals are cooked and served in the beamed and galleried farmhouse kitchen, using home-grown and fresh local produce when available. After breakfast relax in the drawing room, wander round the garden, or if you feel more energetic walk across the fields to Bromyard through our own young woodland or look for the ruins of St Mary's Norman Church, now a thousand years old. The house is centrally heated and enjoys ample off-road car parking. Kindly note this is a no-smoking home. Guests are welcome to smoke out of doors. We regret we cannot accept pets, but guide dogs are always welcome.

B&B from £30 includes afternoon tea in the drawing room or garden, hospitality tray in the bedroom, and full English breakfast. Each room has hair dryers, bathrobe, use of iron and clothes drying facilities if required. Light suppers are available if booked in advance and costs £7.50. Please bring your own wine. Packed lunches may also be ordered in advance. We offer walkers a baggage forwarding service and take and collect from starting points.
