We are pleased to state that we are now graded as "4 Star Guest Accomodation". To comply with new legislation and keep the word "hotel" in our name would have been cost prohibitive. Only the name has changed; we still offer the high standard of quality and service we have always provided and for which we are justifiably renowned.

The Southern is situated in a quiet position, yet just a stroll away from the beach and all attractions and amenities, including the New Harbour location. Our award winning licensed premises are open all year, with full central heating to ensure the comfort of out of season travellers. Sally & Tony are experienced hoteliers who have made considerable investment in refurbishment since purchasing The Southeren in 2002, and have an ongoing inprovement and updating programme every year. this year, several rooms have been upgraded to to superior individually designed standard.

The Southern prides itself on it's high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, attention to detail and standard of service, to ensure guests comfort and enjoyment. To maintain these high standards, most members of staff have obtained the "Welcome to Excellence" certificate. All bedrooms have en-suite with shower, colour TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer.

 Meals are freshly prepared in our own kitchen, using local produce where possible, giving a choice of Bed Breakfast & Evening Dinner if preferred.

Under new "Business Food Safety Star Award" we are pleased to announce that we were awarded 5 stars by the Environmental Health, this being the hightest possible rating.

The resident proprietors Sally & Tony Davies offer you a warm welcome in pleasant surroundings in a relaxed atmosphere. The hotels reception, with the original wide carved staircase, is impressive and inviting from the minute you enter.

The licensed bar is a comfortable sunny room, where you can enjoy a drink from the well stocked bar with both draught and bottled beers, wines, spirits or coffee. It is tastefully decorated and furnished for your comfort, a room where you may choose to read, or talk to new friends you have made.

Single
Our single rooms have all the facilities of the larger rooms. Remote controlled colour TV, clock radio and complimentary tea / coffee making facilities. The n-suite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet and good quality soft towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied.

Twin
Twin rooms are spacious and comfortable with remote controlled colour TV, clock radio and complmentary tea/coffee making facilities. They contain 2 full sized single beds. The en-suite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet and good quality soft towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied.

 Double
Our double rooms are spacious and offer comfort with remote controlled colour TV, clock radio and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. The ensuite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet and good quality soft towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied.

Family 3
Our family 3 bedrooms consist of a double bed and a full size single bed, with all the decor and space of the double rooms. Remote controlled colour TV, clock radio and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. The ensuite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet and good quality soft towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied.

 Family 4
Our family 4 Suite consists of a double bedroom and interconnecting door to another bedroom holding the bunks. Remote controlled colour TV in both rooms, clock radio and complimentary tea/ coffee making facilities in the double. The ensuite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet and a separate toilet and wash hand basin, good quality soft towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied.

 Premier Double
Our "Premier" Double rooms are spacious and offer comfort with remote controlled colour TV with Freeview, clock radio and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities, a mini fridge, a ceiling fan light, individually chosen bedlinen and Egyptian cotton sheets The ensuite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet and good quality soft towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied. Some bedrooms have wooden floors and some have leather beds.

 Each booking in low season will be upgraded free of charge whenever possible.

Our dining rooms have separate tables for each room with buffet style starters and waitress / waiter service at all other times. |
