ILFRACOMBE - Ilfracombe is a captivating and friendly resort, set in the north of Devon, in a region renowned for its outstanding natural beauty.
Ilfracombe has its own harbour, from which you can explore one of the best coastlines in England. To the East, you will find some of the highest sea cliffs in England, split up by small uncommercialised Rocky Bays; ideal for bathing and rock-pool exploration.

Heading west from Ilfracombe you can experience outstanding sandy beaches at Woolacombe Bay, Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands (also famous for its nature reserve).

Here the Atlantic surf pounds on to long, shelving sandy beaches, making them ideal for experienced or novice surfers and swimmers; or the ideal place to play beach games, picnic or just walk.

Inland to the East lies Beautiful Exmoor with its splendid open moorland and rich fertile valleys epitomised in Lorna Doone. To the west you will find beautiful Devon villages and verdant countryside leading right up to the edge of the officially designated heritage coast.

Our little town, with its good selection of shops, its theatre with its full entertainment programme in the summer, its night clubs and cinema, is an ideal place to position yourself for the holiday of a lifetime.

It has its own harbour from which you can hire a small boat to go fishing, or take a trip on one of the few sea-going paddle steamers still in service in the UK.

The town has a heated indoor swimming pool for those not wishing to take advantage of the exhilarating surf, it has tennis courts, crazy golf and a promenade plus a whole series of fascinating eating places and watering holes.

Whatever your interest, you will enjoy it most if you stay at The Sherborne Hotel, where you are sure to experience the comforts you expect.
