 Before leaving Thurso it's worth spending some time exploring the history of the town. With such notable local figures as Robert Dick the naturalist and Sir William Smith, founder of the Boys' Brigade, there's much to learn. Caithness is not well known as a tourist destination, but there is little doubt that the depth of social and natural history is a revelation to the many people who find time to discover just what the county has to offer. |  |
There's a feast of exploration waiting - from the Neolithic stone burial mounds at Camster and Loch of Yarrow, through Viking influences, to more recent evidence of man's impact on the landscape, such as those left by the flagstone and herring industries.
For families on holiday there are several beautiful beaches and exhilarating coastal walks to keep the children happy for hours, but if you want to go off for a more strenuous outing the day trip to Orkney is excellent value.
After a long drive north the last thing you need is frustration of hunting for a parking space outside your hotel. At The Park there is no problem. Likewise the peace of mind provided when you want to leave you car and go on sightseeing trips is much appreciated by our residents.

Finding the Park Hotel couldn't be simpler.....
Thurso is located on the very north coast of Scotland about two hours drive from Inverness via the A9, A895 - or the A836 from John O'Groats in the east and Durness in the west, and only 20 miles from the nearest airport at Wick.
If you are arriving from the south on the A882 the hotel is situated just 150 metres on the right right after the speed restrictions sign.
Coming from the west or the east just follow signs for Inverness, and the hotel is clearly visible on the left as you head south out of town.
