| The landlord and landlady, Tony and Sue Gray offer a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors at the Outgate. They take pride in their fine reputation for serving excellent real ales, superb freshly cooked meals and comfortable guest bedrooms in relaxed and pleasant surroundings. The Outgate Inn dates back to the 18th century and was originally part of a smallholding, in 1903 it became licensed as the Outgate Mineral Water Manufacturer. Today it is part of the Robinson's and Hartley's Brewery and serves their finest ales. Many of the original features of the building have been retained keeping the old world feel. During the winter months a real fire welcomes guests in from the cold and there is a secluded and peaceful beer garden where visitors can relax on warm summer evenings. Open all year round, food served both lunchtime and in the evening and the bar is open all day. All meals are freshly prepared and cooked to order and can be taken either in the cosy dining room or in the bar area. The menu is varied and is supplemented by a Daily Specials blackboard. |

| The Outgate has become renowned for their live Jazz every Friday evening from March to the end of October. Visitors travel far and wide to enjoy this very special experience, not to be missed! It's always a busy night, so to guarantee a table for dinner and to enjoy the Jazz phone to make a reservation. To complete the picture of a true country inn there are also three double en suite guest bedrooms, one of which can convert to a comfortable twin-bedded room. All the bedrooms have colour satellite TV, hairdryers and tea and coffee making facilities. Regrettably our accommodation is not suitable for children under 12 years. We welcome well-behaved dogs! How to find us . . . This is an ideal place for a visit to the heart of the Lakes, near to the traditional Lakeland villages of Hawkshead, Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere. The Outgate Inn is the perfect place to experience the best of the English Lake District. |
