The historic Cathedral town of Bury St Edmunds, hub of East Anglia, once housed the fabulous Norman Abbey making it one of the great centres of pilgrimage in England. The barons met to plot against King John in the Abbey and Mary Tudor, sister of Henry VIII was buried there, her remains later being moved to the beautiful Church of St Mary where they now lie.
The town boasts many fine buildngs including the exquisite Georgian Theatre Royal, the Queen Anne house named Angel Corner and the Manor House Museum. Bury St Edmunds is a wonderful centre for tourists with Norwich, Cambridge, Nemarket and Ely together with the East Coast ports and Aldeburgh all being reached within an hour by car, while relaxing visits can be made to the Great Houses and Country Estates or to the delightful villages in this part of East Anglia.
The M11 gives speedy access to London. Collection can be arranged from the railway station. Ounce House is within five minutes walk of a good range of town centre restaurants and bookings can be made for them and for tickets to the Theatre Royal. |

Guest may make themselves at home in the drawing room and library on the ground floor and drinks are available from the honesty bar. This is a non smoking house. |

Easy Directions
From the A14 trunk road (previously called the A45) and approaching from either the east or west, take the second exit from either direction when you see the sugar beet factory. This is signposted 'Bury St Edmunds Central'.
At the roundabout at the bottom of the slip road follow signs to 'Historic Bury St Edmunds' and at the next roundabout turn left into Northgate Street.
Ounce House is on the right hand side at the top of the hill, just before the traffic lights. We have a large blue sign outside and there is plenty of off road parking in front of the house. |
