Welcome to The Old School

Set amidst glorious rolling countryside and in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our North Cotswolds 'home from home' at Little Compton is your great escape - the perfect location for exploring unspoilt villages and historical towns. Easily accessible on the London Paddington - Hereford Great Western line and conveniently positioned between Oxford - Stratford upon Avon - Cheltenham, a couple of days break may - well, simply not be enough!

The Old School Bed and Breakfast

Once a Victorian schoolhouse built in 1854 by the local brewery and more recently a lively day nursery for surrounding village toddlers, our converted home has a more genteel but still carefree atmosphere. We offer four comfortable en-suite rooms, private sitting rooms and a choice of indulgent or active pastimes and treats we are happy to prepare or book for you, some listed below:

Bike hire - country walks - delicious hampers - classic car hire / tours - dinner - theatre bookings - supper trays - stag and hen weekends - falconry - retail therapy - horse stabling / riding - relaxing.
Or just tell us what you would like… and we will always endeavour to accommodate…

Guests are invited to arrive between 4.00pm - 6.00pm and to vacate your bedrooms by 10.30am on the day of departure.

Very regrettably NO dogs allowed in the house, peacefully NO children under 16 years of age unless by special arrangement.

We also offer the facility of a private meeting room with light refreshments - away from the distractions of the office environment.

We look forward to welcoming you and making your stay with us a memorable one and by no means the last!

Wendy and John

The Rooms

Our four en suite bedrooms are named after local schools. The Kitebrook, The Dormer, The Kingham and The Reed room all offer super-king size beds with Egyptian bed linen and duvets (blankets on request), facilities to make comforting hot drinks, biscuits and a small fridge to keep milk fresh and water cold; essential if you bring your own G&T (ice and slice provided) or wine!

The Old School Bed and Breakfast

A flat screen TV with an integral DVD player (a selection of films are available for you to enjoy), a radio and alarm clock are here for you too. Fresh flowers in the rooms, snug bathrobes, hairdryer, gorgeous toiletries and fluffy bath sheets plenty large enough to hide your modesty all make for a comfortable stay.

Food Glorious Food

Breakfast:
Breakfast is served at 8.30 - 9.30am - a little later at the weekends. Choose from fresh fruits, compotes, juices, cereals, porridge or homemade granola, eggs in all guises, bacon, sausage, smoked salmon, mushrooms, tomatoes… Freshly ground coffee (including decaffeinated) and teas including traditional, speciality and infusions...

Supper Trays:
Supper Trays are ideal if you have had lunch or prefer something light before heading off to the theatre. An example menu may be freshly prepared smoked salmon sandwiches, Welsh Rarebit or a savoury tartlet with salad garnish, a fluffy fruit fool or crème brulée, fresh fruit and a refreshing soft drink. Please give 24 hours notice and any special dietary requirements.

The Old School Bed and Breakfast

Dinners:
After a long day out exploring - why not stay in and enjoy dinner cooked for you by Wendy. Start with a complimentary drink, followed by a four-course dinner. If the weather is predictable we will barbecue for you to enjoy in the gardens. Or you may prefer a lighter option of a two-course supper? Before retiring to bed, round the day off with a warming nightcap upstairs in the vaulted Drawing Room…
Dinner is pre-booked and ideally requires a minimum of four guests.

Hampers:
Whether walking, cycling, rowing or just sitting - book a hamper (rugs and brollies included). Maybe a hearty homemade soup and bread or a 'fancy' picnic to graze on, or just a flask of coffee or tea with biscuits or cakes…Wicker baskets look the part but are not ideal for keeping food at its best so insulated rucksacks or boxes are provided so the food waits for you… Again 24 hours Notice is required.
