7 miles from Wantage and 5 miles from Faringdon, Uffington is fortunate in being off the main roads, so you can enjoy the tranquility of the nearby countryside. The village is on the Oxford Cycle way.

The Post Office and Village Shop, open 7 days a week, is situated next to Norton House.

The village also has a beautiful 13th century parish church - The Cathedral of the Vale where John Betjeman the Poet Laureate was once a Churchwarden.

A museum, open at weekends in summer, is to be found in the former school house, which is featured in Thomas Hughes' Tom Brown's Schooldays.

Dragon Hill, situated below the White Horse is the site where, legend has it, St. George slew the dragon.

Wayland's Smithy, an impressive long barrow, is another nearby antiquity 1 mile westwards along the Ridgeway from White Horse Hill.
