About the Hotel

The Monsal Head Hotel is situated overlooking the beautiful Monsal Dale in the centre of the peak district National Park. Three miles from the market town of Bakewell and twenty miles from junction 29 on the M1. Manchester International Airport is one hour drive. Chatworth House and Haddon Hall are within a ten minute drive. There are many walks of varying lengths starting from the hotel making it an ideal walking centre

The complex consists of two buildings, the hotel itself and the Stables pub at the rear.

The original building was built in the nineteeth century as a pub namely The Bulls Head, the stone carving of the Bulls Head is still in the place at the hotel. It was rebuilt as the Railway Hotel at the beginning of the steam train era. The Stables pub is the original stable for the railway horses that carried the passengers from the station in Monsal Dale up the steep incline to the hotel at Monsal Head.
