Welcome to Mill House Bed & Breakfast Set in the middle of 'Constable Country', this is the ideal base for exploring John Constable's famous county.
We have one single & two double rooms, inviting & prettily decorated with river & meadow views. Tea/coffee and biscuits available in the rooms.
Mill House is over 400 years old but has been well kept and renovated by the current owners Peter & Maria (and not forgetting Leonard & Petra - the pampered poodles)
Peter & Maria, as local residents for over 20 years, have a plethoria of local knowledge. There are many local sites of interest such as Flatford Mill, Christchurch Mansion, Long Melford Hall, Gainsborough House and the famous Colne Valley Railway to name but a few.
If you fancy a game of golf, why not try Newton Green Golf Club located 8 minutes drive away or Stoke By Nayland championship 18 hole golf course, only a further 10 minutes away. |
The House
Mill House is a charming Grade II 500 year old medieval town house 5 minutes walk from the centre of Sudbury town with beautiful views to the river Stour and the water meadows.
The house extends into a 100 year old cottage where the breakfast room and guests bedrooms are located as this part of the house enjoys the best view of the river and gardens. Exposed close oak studwork and vaulted ceilings remind you that 500 years have gone by and Mill House still has a magical ambience. The dining room with its handmade antique furniture takes you back in time and the large inglenook fireplace in the drawing room invites you to sit by the log fire in cold winter nights enjoying a pot of tea or a well deserved drink.
The bedrooms are large and comfortable, one with balcony with river view the other, also overlooking the river, has a large bathroom with a Victorian cast iron bath and shower. Toiletries, hairdryer, toweling bathrobes, cotton sheets and feather quilts or blankets all contribute to make it special for you.
Enjoy a pot of tea or coffee and home made cakes or a drink in the gardens or on the balcony or sit in the large elevated conservatory soaking in the bucolic atmosphere of the river pond and meadows with their ducklings, swans and highland cattle.
Breakfast is simple with a variety of fresh produce, fresh fruit juice, home made preserves, bread and cold meats, fruits, free range eggs, smoked salmon or haddock.
Well behaved pets are welcome (small cleaning deposit required) - Easy parking |
