The Countryside Holiday Which? has described the Welsh Marches as 'ideal for touring or activity holidays'. Certainly the scenery offers a variety that few similar regions of Britain can match. The hills to the north and south of Knighton offer pleasant short walks and some spectacular views which are best enjoyed from the well-preserved stretch of Offa's Dyle on Llanfair Hill. The Heritage centre for the Dyke is situated in Knighton and the energetic might consider tackling the168-mile long footpath or the slightly less challenging Glydwr's Way which wanders 120 miles from its start point at the town's Clock Tower. ![]() The turbulent history of the marches has left numerous picturesque castles and towns all within easy reach of Milebrook. The old marcher capital, Ludlow with its splendid Norman castle, narrow alleys and newly-cleared market square, can justly claim to be one the most beautiful towns in Britain. Even closer at hand are the border townships of Clun, Bishop's Castle, Presteigne and Kington. All have an individual charm and interest with, apart from market days, an underlying peacefulness. The famous bookshops of Hay-on-Wye are a comfortable 22 mile drive to the South of Milebrook. 20 miles to the south-west lies the elegant spa town of Llandrindod Wells which, like Knighton, is served by British Rail's justly celebrated scenic Heart of Wales Line. For golfers there are courses at Kington (nine holes), Kington and Ludlow. The latter course is laid out on the attractive National Hunt racecourse; trotting races are highly popular in the Kington district. Milebrook is centrally located in one of the most attractive but least spoiled areas of the country. The combination of varied landscapes and townscapes with the comfort and good food provided at Milebrook House is a guarentee of a restful holiday ![]() One Night Only: -Bed and Breakfast Prices are per person Double/Twin Standard Room £49.75 Double/Twin Deluxe Room £52.75 Single Room Standard £64.00 Single Room Deluxe £68.50 Please note all bedrooms are NO-SMOKING Dinner: - 3 courses, Table d'hote £30.95
