Maybe you would prefer to go bargain hunting in the local Mill shops or doing some serious shopping in Manchester, Preston and Harrogate... ...and all at sensible Northern prices!

TO HELP YOU GET TO KNOW US...
Lovett Guest House is a large, comfortable, Victorian terraced home. It is set in a quiet situation close to both the Town Centre and to open countryside. The bus and railway stations and the adjacent shopping centre are within an easy 10 minute stroll. (It used to be 7 minutes, but I grow older!) Junction 13 of the M65 motorway is 3 minutes drive away.
Two of our rooms are en suite, the third (has it's own vanity basin and is about 15ft from the bathroom) A bath robe is provided. All the rooms have been carefully planned for the convenience of guests (ie electric sockets next to mirrors, full length mirrors, bedside lamps, even fans for hot weather and oil lamps for power cuts!)They all contain well stocked hospitality trays; colour television + videos; central heating; additional heating (at no extra charge);alarm clocks; cassette radios; hairdryers; crockery and cutlery; and shaver sockets.
There is also a payphone; iron and ironing board; and a large selection of books, magazines and games for the use of guests. Access to e-mail and internet can be arranged.
There are a number of very pleasant hostelries near bywhere you could obtain an evening meal, (suggestions and map provided); crockery and cutlery arealso provided in your bedroom in case you wish to bring a snack back home with you!
We have a wide selection of local information, both written and from personal experience. If you wish for assistance in planning excursions, by cycle, car or by public transport,we will be delighted to help. We also offer a drop off and pick up transport service to enable walkers to complete the circular Pendle Way without having to back pack! We can offer secure parking for bicycles or motor cycles and plenty of quiet on street parking for cars and motor cycles.
Pendle is poised on the easternmost border of North East Lancs, or Lancashire Hill Country as it is now more accurately described. It is not only a fascinating destination in itself, it is a wonderful base for taking day trips to the Lake District; the Ribble Valley; the Yorkshire Dales; the Calder Valley; the Fylde Coast; Merseyside and the Wirral and the Cities of York, Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster.
..... as you have probably gathered, we enjoy making our guests comfortable and sharing with them the hills, heritage and eccentricities of the Pendle area.

...There are many museums, Stately Homes and Heritage centres in the above areas and the scenery can be stunning. There are also some wonderful little (and not so little) pubs, serving excellent food.
The theatres and clubs of Blackburn and Manchester, and the smaller venues at Burnley and Colne, host a wide variety of entertainments. And if you want something more than watching the world go by, there are a wide variety of sporting activities locally, cross country shooting, dry slope skiing, pony trekking, golf...
BARGAIN shopping surrounds you! In fact - some people cover the cost of their short break with the savings that they make! Shoes, clothes, outdoor gear, bedding, china, ... The list of high quality, branded goods available at local factory shops is amazing.

Get onto the M65. Heading west towards Nelson and Burnley. Exit at junction 13. (The first junction coming from Colne) At 1st roundabout take 3rd exit. The A682 to Barrowford. At 2nd roundabout take 1st exit. A6068 to Fence and Padiham (by thatched pub) Now follow the directions given in italics

Pass the Thatch and Thistle and the running track. Go straight across the small roundabout then take the first left turn, the B6249 to Nelson. Thie is Carr Road.Pass Victoria Park Lake on the left and the bowling green and car park on the right. Go under the motorway bridge and take first right by the grocery/off license shop; you are now on Howard St. come to the top of the street, Whitefield & Lomeshaye School is on the left and Lovett Guest House is your right, with flower baskets on the wall. |
