The picturesque Yorkshire Wolds present wonderful countryside for leisurely walking and cycling. Golfers can take their pick of the local courses or for a real test visit the well known Fulford course at York. Anglers can try the local canals and ponds and the River Derwent is just 20 minutes away. Gliding is a popular local sport with Pocklington Airfield just five miles from the doorstep, but for those who would rather keep their feet on the ground and look to the skies, clay pigeon shooting is available at nearby Cherry Burton. Those who prefer a quieter outing can visit Burnby Hall and Gardens with its world famous collection of water lilies or take a trip to Beverley to see the majestic 13th Century Minster - one of the finest gothic churches in the world. He died in 1820, aged 33, measuring 7ft 9 inches in height and weighing 27 stones - still recognised as England's tallest man. | How to find us The Londesborough Arms Hotel enjoys a convenient location on the A1079, just 18 miles from York and 14 miles from Hull and the M62. From Hull: follow the A1079 through Bishop Burton to Market Weighton and onto the High Street. The Londesborough is 100 yards on your right. From the M62: leave the M62 at junction 38, go through North Cave on the B1230, until you reach the T junction at the A1034. Turn left and head for Market Weighton. From York: take the A1079 south-east for eighteen miles then turn left into Market Weighton - it couldn't be simpler!The main car park is off the High Street to the rear of the Hotel. |
