Welcome to Huxtable Farm
Surrounded by open fields, woodland and a winding stream, Huxtable Farm nestles in the foothills of Exmoor, and is approached by 'Strawberry Lane' where wild strawberries grow on the high banks in early summer.

Huxtable Farm, Barnstaple, Front of House

Huxtable is a medieval Devon longhouse, lovingly restored and retaining many of its original features-open fireplaces with bread ovens, uneven flagstone floors, low doorways, oak screen panelling and beams, with décor and furnishings in keeping with the house's age and style.

The farmhouse, built in 1520, is a listed building as is the carefully converted barn. All the guest accommodation offers every comfort: well-appointed bedrooms have ensuite facilities except one with a beautiful private bathroom. Each room is equipped with a large selection of toiletries, tea and coffee trays and TV.

Jackie and Antony welcome you to Huxtable Farm…
…with a delightful Devon cream tea, served either in the colourful garden or in the attractive drawing room.

This lovely old 80 acre farm supports mostly woodland and sheep. The sheep usually lamb in March. In the fourteenth century, this is where the name 'Huxtable' is considered to have originated. Children are welcome to make friends with and feed the lambs, the tame sheep and chickens. The sheep dog, Polly, attempts to keep all in order whilst Tigger the Springer Spaniel just waits for attention!

Much wildlife can be observed on the farm, with an abundance of wild flowers, rabbits, pheasants, partridge, buzzards, bats, badger and even deer in the early morning. From the highest point on the farm there are wonderful panoramic views of the beautiful Devonian countryside with Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks in the distance.
