Kinlochleven, meaning ‘Head of the Loch of Elm Water’ in Gaelic, has a unique history, stemming from a ‘one of a kind’ aluminium producing plant powered by hydro-electric from the dam buried high in the surrounding hills, which at that time, was the largest in Europe. But as the anthem goes ‘Those days are gone now…’.

In recent years “The Children of the Dead End” have witnessed the rebirth of our beautiful Highland community. You may know that Kinlochleven is the penultimate stop on the West Highland Way, before Fort William. Facilities such as the friendly Antler Bar, the Atlas Micro Brewery, and The Ice Factor, the largest climbing facility of it’s kind in the world, have given people good reason to visit this picturesque highland getaway.

To add to the relaxed ambience of your stay, local food and drink are available at the Highland Getaway licensed café-bar and restaurant and The Antler Bar, where you can get the ‘Craic’ with the locals, or relax further in the Snug lounge.

If you are so inclined there are a number of walks which will lead you to some very spectacular scenery.
