There is also an exciting arts festival in the spring. As wellas the Cathedral, Old Sarum and Stonehenge there are manyplaces of interest to visit including historic Wilton House and Stourhead, one of England's most spectacular gardens. |

| Salisbury is well placed as a touring centre whether by car, bus or train.Portsmouth's Naval Dockyard (45 minutes) houses Nelson'sVictory, Henry VIII's Mary Rose and Warrior, the first ironclad. Winchester (30 minutes) has a delightful cathedral, King Arthur's 'Round Table' and one of the best pubs for food in the South of England. Whilst Bath (60 minutes) with its wonderful Roman Baths and Costume Museum makes a great day out. There are interesting small shops in which to browse and you can have tea in the Georgian Pump Rooms to the accompaniment of live, period music. |
