Glenside is a cottage style hotel occupying a beautiful site on the southern bank of the Teign estuary. It was originally built as a private residence in approximately 1820. Over the years it has been extended and used first as a school and more recently as a well-appointed, small and restful hotel of three bedrooms and one apartment.
 |
| Shaldon has twelve pub/restaurants and tea rooms, some with gardens by the estuary and there are four others situated in delightful villages, or on the river within about two miles of Glenside and we will happily show where to find them. |
A short level walk besides the estuary brings you into the heart of the village. Visitors to the area will feel they have stepped back in time to view an unspoilt nineteenth century village. Cottages line narrow, picturesque streets and in Spring Summer and Autumn the gardens are bright with flowers.
Ness headland offers a fine view of the wide sweep in Lyme Bay while under the headland a smugglers tunnel leads to Ness Beach. | |
