Aberdour for Holidays
As a holiday resort Aberdour can offer both the freshness and variety of the seaside and the charm and peace of the country. Its mild climate makes it a delightful resort. Whether you stand on the seashore and look out to the islands of the Forth - with Inchcolm (the Island of St Columba) famed in Scottish history, and Inchmickery on your right and the mass of Inchkeith on your left or whether you prefer to go inland and enjoy the panorama of the hills you will easily understand why Aberdour is one of the most popular villages in Fife. The history of the village is enshrined in four buildings; The Monastery on the island of Inchcolm, Aberdour Castle, The Parish Church of St Fillan's approached by the road leading down to the Silver Sands Beach is one of the gems of Scottish Ecclesiastical Architecture. It is often described as a Miniature Cathedral both for its beauty and history, open daily is well worth a visit.
The Castle, which dates back to the 14th century has been taken over by Historic Scotland, the walled garden is especially lovely, along with the terraced gardens recently renovated.
St Bridgets Church Dalgety Bay reconstructed in 1244 AD is the fourth historic building in the neighbourhood.
The Silver Sands beach with its European Flag for cleanliness and facilities in the East along with similar qualities on the West beach attract many people during the summer months.
Sport: There is an excellent eighteen hole Golf Course with a modern club House where all facilities are provided. In the Public Park the tennis courts, bowling green and playing space for the children.
The Harbour, which is charming, is very busy during the season. The Boat Club has a good yachting calender for all those who are interested in sailing.

How to Find us
By Road From Forth road bridge/M90 take exit 1 onto A921 sign-posted Inverkeithing/Kincardine Bridge. Travelling East (signs Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay) for approximately 2 miles into Aberdour.
Continue through village past rail station and Castle. Take first right into Hawkcraig Road and follow Hotel signs across large car park. A short but steep road down to the shore reaches the hotel, where cars can be parked adjacent to the hotel.
By Rail Frequent 25 minute rail service from Edinburgh Waverley to Aberdour. Luggage can be collected from station by arrangement.
By Air 25 minutes taxi ride from Edinburgh Airport or via airport coach into Edinburgh Waverley.
Also please note excellent road/rail links with Stirling, Perth, Dundee and St Andrews. |
