Welcome to Downs View Guest House

Downs View Guest House is a family run business that has been established for over 60 years and has been in the same hands for the last 29 years. Our well established Victorian guest house has recently been tastefully refurbished and admirably reflects the period of its time.

We are near Bristol Zoo, Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol University, Clifton College, a vast array of restaurants, shops and bus routes.

The Guest House enjoys magnificent views over the Downs at the front and right over the city at the back. We are situated one and a half miles north of the city centre at the top of Whiteladies Road.

We have a Quality in Tourism 4 star rating for guest accommodation.

Accommodation

Our well established Victorian guest house has recently been tastefully refurbished and admirably reflects the period of its time.

Downs View Guest House has retained the character, charm and atmosphere of a large family house whilst maintaining all the modern conveniences that one would expect from such an establishment.

All prices are inclusive of VAT, standard rooms have wash basin, television & tea/coffee making facilities.

Single Standard: £45
Single en-suite: £55
Double/twin standard: £60
Double/twin en-suite: £70

We have one treble en-suite room with one double and one single bed in it. This room is £85 per night.

Check in is from midday and check out is by 11am.

Cancellation Policy: If a booking is cancelled within 48 hrs of arrival there will be a cancellation fee of the first night's money unless the room is re-let.

Menus

Our Menu Includes:

Orange juice, grapefruit segments and yoghurt
Seven different cereals including muesli
Eggs: fried, poached, scrambled or boiled
Bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes and baked beans
Brown or white toast
Tea, coffee or herbal teas

Breakfast Times...

Monday to Friday: 7:00am to 8:30am
Sat, Sun, Bank Holidays: 8:00am to 9:30am

Special requirements within reason will be catered for on request.

How to Find Us

From the M4 (and M5 North), do not go down the M32, but get on the M5 to the South and exit at Junction 17. Follow the signs to Bristol Zoo and we are located on the left after 5 miles - just before the zoo.

From the M5 South, exit at Junction 19 and keep in the left hand lane. After 5 miles you will cross over the Clifton Suspension Bridge (30p in silver coins needed). Once over, take the first left and take another left once you reach the T-junction. Continue down this road until you reach a crossroad, turn right and you will find us on the right just after an S bend.

Other Routes...

From the centre - Exit up Park Street and the Queens Road. Go to the right of the Victoria Rooms (with fountains outside). This is Whiteladies Road - a one mile long road of shops and restaurants - eventually you will have to give way at the top of a hill. Turn left at the top and we are situated 200 yards along on the left.
