A very friendly family welcome awaits you at the historic Covenanters' Inn. ![]() Run by Louise and Douglas Harrison, the Inn is located in the small country village of Auldearn, just 2 miles from Nairn between Inverness (capital of the Highlands) and the historic town of Elgin in Moray. ![]() It is an ideal location from which to explore the magnificent scenery of the North and West Highlands, Moray, Speyside, the Cairngorms and Aberdeenshire. |
| Whether you are here for the history, the whisky or the outdoor life, there's something for everyone! We pride ourselves on being a family establishment and our daughters, Claire and Laura, are often on hand to greet guests and meet their children. The Covenanters' Inn offers 14 comfortable bedrooms (double, twin, triple and family rooms) all with en-suite facilities, colour TV, direct-dial telephone and central heating. One bedroom has been adapted for disabled guests. All rooms are on the ground floor. A refurbishment of the bedrooms was completed in early 2003. ![]() Children are well catered for with the indoor kiddies cave, outdoor play area and of course, their own special menu. The "Big Kids" also enjoy the pool table and darts. |

If you are wondering about the name - it originates from the great Battle of Auldearn in 1645 between the Covenanters and the Marquis of Montrose. In these times, the original part of the Inn was the Mill and Brewhouse for the people of the area. Today, the Highlands are far more welcoming and we look forward to meeting you! |
| The Covenanters' Inn is renowned for its variety of good food cooked using local produce. The Eren Restaurant provides a more formal dining atmosphere, mainly used for special occasions and parties. Breakfast is also served here. ![]() The Kiln Lounge Bar (recently refurbished) offers excellent food in historic surroundings. It is situated in the 'mill' section of the building. During its refurbishment, the old beams were exposed and now the actual kiln and some of the original workings are open to view. After eating, why not enjoy a dram at the bar or sit in the conservatory and watch the sunset. The conservatory (non smoking) is the perfect quiet setting for reading, write your postcards or surfing the internet. |
| Location The Covenanters' Inn is very conveniently located and is an ideal base for sightseeing throughout the Highlands, Moray, Speyside and Royal Deeside. We are just 25 minutes drive from Inverness and Elgin. Flights British Airways, BMI and Easy Jet operate daily flights from London to Inverness Airport, 9 miles away. Eastern Airways fly to Inverness Airport from Manchester and Birmingham. British Airways, Easy Jet, KLM and other airlines fly into Aberdeen Airport. Train There are regular daily trains from London and Glasgow/Edinburgh to Inverness and to Aberdeen. Nairn railway station is on the main line between Inverness and Aberdeen. It is just a short taxi or bus ride from there to the Inn. Coach We are on the main bus route between Inverness and Aberdeen. Buses run every 30 minutes during the day and there is a bus stop outside the Inn. Coach connections are available to Edinburgh and Glasgow via Inverness. Car Rental Vehicles can be hired at Inverness and Aberdeen (from the railway stations, airports or city centre). It is advisable to book in advance. |
