The Cotswold Grange is a privately-owned 24 ensuite bedroom hotel in a wonderful location on a quiet leafy avenue of similar grand buildings within a conservation area of Cheltenham. Constructed around 1860 over an epic 6 year period, the Cotswold Grange was formerly the salubrious country retreat for a City solicitor and still retains many fine spacious rooms with high ceilings and ornate features.

Sample dishes include pan-fried sea bass set on rocket salad with tomato sauce vierge; smooth chicken liver parfait with sultana and orange chutney complimented with classic melba toast; pan-fried salmon fillet set on creamy spinach and saffron fennel served with lemon potatoes and butter chive sauce.

The menu is accompanied by a concise but varied selection of fine wines with a good balance of Old and New Worlds - Reds include Monchiero Barolo DOCG 2003 and Domaine Berthet-Rayne Chateauneuf du Pape 2006 - Whites include a New Zealand Marlborough 2007 Sauvignon Blanc and Cave Daniel Ducroux Sancerre 2006.

Dinner is served in the long elegant high-ceilinged dining room with beautiful ornate details and remarkable 20ft tall windows.
