Combe Ridge is a large country house set in its own 18 acres, situated in glorious countryside close to the village of Chiddingfold. It is a family home with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, plenty of parking spaces and an excellent breakfast offering free range eggs and organic and homemade jams and marmalades.

Haslemere is 4 miles away and is a charming country town with some elegant shops, cafes and pubs. Petworth is only 15 minutes away from Combe Ridge and is home to the 17th Century mansion Petworth House and Park. Other places of interest are Goodwood House, where horse racing, the Festival of Speed in July and Goodwood Revival in September attract large crowds. Godalming is also not far away and is an interesting old town with many shops, pubs and restaurants. Boats can be hired out on the River Wey from Farncombe. Munstead and Winkworth Arboretum are also well worth a visit. |
The south facing bedrooms have far reaching views of Blackdown, the second highest hill in Surrey and sheep grazing in nearby fields. A walk across the field will take you down to the village of Chiddingfold which has one of the oldest pubs, the Crown dating back to the fourteenth century it stands opposite the old church of St. Mary's…. other pubs are the Swan and The Mulberry which both serve excellent food.
Combe Ridge is close to Witley station on the line to London Waterloo and the towns of Guildford, Godalming and Haslemere. There are innumerable walks and gardens to visit including a delightful Gertrude Jekyll garden at Vann, Hambledon and the Rhododendron and azalea filled gardens at Ramster. |
