Swanage is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside with its superb coastal walks and has much to offer both the young and the young at heart!
The picturesque seaside town is set in an area of great natural beauty on the newly designated World Heritage Jurassic Coastline where castles, coves, islands and spectacular coastline views await you.
Just a short walk from the hotel is Swanage's award winning sandy beach which has everything for the perfect day out by the sea. For the children, it boasts one of the only remaining Punch and Judy shows. There are numerous good restaurants and pubs serving excellent food in Swanage and the surrounding areas.
The Castleton is an excellent base for birdwatchers (RSPB reserve at Arne just a short drive away), ramblers, rockclimbers, golfers (Beautiful Purbeck Golf Club nearby), sailing, windsufing or just exploring the many exciting historic attractions like Corfe Castle and Brownsea Island.
Walkers can enjoy the stunning scenery along the south west coast path, which runs along the whole of the Purbeck coastline to the famous Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
Take a trip to Corfe on the Swanage Steam Railway. This nostalgic journey takes you to the heart of Corfe where you can explore the historic village and imposing castle ruins. |
