Welcome
Follow the twisting country lanes to where the Towy is crossed and then on the famous and dramatic Welsh Drover routes until you reach Llandovery, a place which that well known travel writer George Borrow described as: 'the pleasantest little town in which I have halted in the course of my wanderings'.
The Castle Hotel has for many centuries been at the heart of this thriving community on the western edge of The Brecon Beacons National Park in the county of Carmarthenshire known as 'The Garden of Wales'. This is an area renowned for its rolling hills and spectacular landscapes, deep rooted heritage and culture.
Here at The Castle you will find traditional old charm and comfort, soft leather, undulating ceilings, creaking floors, oak beams, open fires and quirky plumbing that is always hot on delivery! WiFi internet access is now available throughout the hotel. See our tariff section below for our special summer break offer - we are still celebrating the Great British Summer here at the Castle... |

Enjoy
A quiet pint, a candlelit supper or if the weather is fine an al fresco lunch all lovingly prepared, locally produced and delivered by a happy dynamic team offering a fresh unstuffy approach to old fashioned hospitality.
Welcome to the Castle Hotel Llandovery, Welsh tradition at its best. |

Sleep
The Castle provides some 20 bedrooms, of differing design all with en suite facilities. New owners Carol Lincoln and Nick Evans are embarking on a refurbishment programme in late 2007 so watch this space!
The Nelson Room and Lady Hamilton Suite are named after those famous inhabitants who stayed at The Castle on Nelsons last tour of Wales before his triumph and demise at the battle of Trafalgar. Nelson's bed is still here, lovingly tended and as warm and welcoming as it probably was in the 19th century with the Emma suite found discreetly opposite. Our George Borrow room is a tribute to the famous writer who also stayed at the Castle on his travels.
WiFi Internet access is available in bedrooms and throughout the hotel.
For the modern day traveller we have rooms to suit your needs whether on business or leisure. Call us to check for availability on 01550 720343 |

Dine
Our head chef Matthew and his team are working hard to offer food that is imaginative, honest, fresh and just plain tasty. No pretensions here the food is local and recognisable as good hearty British cuisine, with a few nice surprises…
'Carriages' our intimate restaurant is open to non residents too for dinner and we are open for delicious bar pub grub, afternoon tea as well as al fresco dining when the weather is fine. Benoit our French Maitre D' ensures your experience is completely enjoyable…with a hint of immutable Parisian charm.
New for 2007! A traditional Carvery Sunday lunch with succulent roast meats and extremely tempting puds with a little live musical to entertain you in the background. |

The Bar
The heart of the Castle is its bar with its old beams, an open fire, numerous pictures, colourful locals and delicious pub grub and real ales. |
Celebrate
The Castle offers the perfect venue for a celebration whether a large wedding breakfast or small private dining function. We do anything, Balls and Dinner Dances, Stars in Your Eyes and Town Crier competitions, hosting rally clubs as well as intimate parties, christening and funeral teas in our smaller function suites.
Talk to us - our ballroom is large, self contained with dance floor, private bar facilities and exclusive car parking and private entrance. Seating up to 120 guests or 150 for a reception, you can dance the night away until 2.00pm!
We can help with the organisation and will do everything in our power to help make your event a success. |

Do Business
The Castle is ideal for small meetings as well as large plenary sessions. Situated on the main A40 and only half an hour from the M4 it is a convenient halfway point from the East and West of Wales and indeed Mid and South of the Principality. With ample parking and comfortable overnight accommodation and WiFi access throughout the hotel, you can be assured that delegates have everything required of a 21st century conference in a venue that is relaxed and informal.
