The Last Invasion embroidered tapestry

Did you know that in 1797 the French invaded Britain?

TapestryIn North Pembrokeshire, in the centre of Fishguard, is Wales' answer to the Bayeux Tapestry (which depicts the 1066 Norman Invasion).
The Invasion Tapestry was designed by Elizabeth Cramp R.W.S. and embroidered by seventy local women. It is full of life and humour and gives a carefully researched account of the invasion and its defeat. Look - there's triumphant Jemima Nicholas with a French soldier in her powerful grip; see the cows cavorting, the dogs and chickens fleeing, the soldiers, the ships, the flags, the rocky Pembrokeshire coastline and the still existing buildings such as Llanwnda Church, Trehowel and Brestgarn Farms and the Royal Oak Inn. The Tapesty can be viewed in the Town Hall free of charge. Just around the corner from The Cartref Hotel!
