Central Location & Ideal Base

Located in the centre of Carrbridge, we are close by the 1717 historic pack horse bridge and just a brief stroll from the village facilities including the local shop, coffee shop, village hall, woodland walks and other attractions.

Our family run hotel offers the ideal base for exploring the Scottish highlands. Within the Cairngorm National Park and easy reach of Inverness and Speyside area there is a wealth of tourist attractions, wildlife, golf courses and events.

If it is your first visit to the area you may be surprised how much less stressful travelling in the area is. Whether by foot, bike, train or car, getting to your location via quiet routes and through stunning scenery can be as enjoyable as reaching your destination. Relax by basing your stay with us.

The Cairn hotel is also ideal for people visiting to work in Inverness. Just 23 miles south and typically a thirty minute or less drive to the city centre you can enjoy the benefits of the countryside but still reach your morning meetings refreshed and relaxed.

We also enjoy excellent travel infrastructure. Just minutes from the main A9 road between Perth and Inverness. Carrbridge has a station with regular trains to Edinburgh, Glasgow and connections further south. Direct trains North to Inverness, Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh. You can also catch the sleeper to and from London from Aviemore Station.

Inverness Airport is within 40 minutes by car or taxi. Now serviced by increased number of flights by British Airways, EasyJet, BMI and others. Scheduled flights to London Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kirkwall, and Stornoway.

If travelling on foot or by bicycle we are on Sustrans route R7 between Glasgow and Inverness. North from Carrbridge you can travel via the alternative off road route over the historic Sluggan Bridge which follows the General Wade Military Road up to Slochd Pass. There are also many old droving routes, paths and tracks to explore. We have secure cycle storage, a drying room and plenty of hot water to wash away the day's mud!
