AA 3 Star Inn
The Picturesque Village of Thornton Watlass lies north of Masham and south of Bedale on the eastern slopes of the Ure Valley at the entrance to Wensleydale and the glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park.
This is one of the loveliest villages in North Yorkshire, forming part of the Thornton Watlass Estate, with a fine old church dating back to the XI Century. The houses, built of local stone, are groups around a large tri-angular green surrounded with trees. The village is only minutes from the A1. |

The Buck Inn is ideal for those who are seeking the peace and solitude of the countryside, backed by the comfort, service and hospitality that is associated with the traditional country inn.
All rooms have radio alarm clocks and tea and coffee making equipment provided, most of our rooms are also en-suite. A private lounge complete with television is provided exclusively for use by residents.
Guests can relax in the bars, one small and cosy with an open fire, and the other, the Long Room, seating 70 people. An eating area opens off the small bar.
The beer drinker has a choice of five real ales including Masham brewed Black Sheep. There are also regularly changing guest ales from one or more of the many new small breweries in the area. The beer is complemented by a selection od some forty different malt whiskies.
Lunch and dinners are served in the bars and dining area every day. The menu is extensive and varies according to what fresh produce is available. There is traditional roast lunch with Yorkshire Puddings on a Sunday. Picnic lunches are provided on request.
Cricket is played on the large green at the front of the Inn. A sheltered garden at the back contains play equipment for children, tables and pitches where quoits are played in summer.
At weekends musical entertainment is provided in the Long Room. Traditional Jazz sessions are held on Sunday lunchtimes at least twice a month. At other times this room can be used for dinners and private parties. |
